no more finishing

Last week, I wrote “finish Vega” in my to-do-calendar.
As a result, I barely wrote 2K instead of my usual 4K words, I got a bad attack of “I’m a crap writer” and all in all, it was a horrible week, writing-wise.
Now, I have “Vega 2000 words” entry, I’m not telling myself I’m finishing the thing, I’m working. The words are not perfect but they are coming. 600+ today on the tram, with the next sentence hanging, waiting for me to get back to it.
Also, I have adjusted my schedule considerably, now taking into account short story writing time. I’m pondering as to whether or not I should dedicate more uninterrupted time for editing, but that remains to be seen (I’m thinking that with editing-hatred like me, I’ll have to use new words as a reward for edited pages).

From now on, there will be no more “finish” entries in TDL’s. I’m considering “2500 words on a short story” entry too, considering that 2500 seems to be my normal short story length.
Perhaps it isn’t even cheating, because it’s clear that writing the story to “The end” is different than “finishing” it. A story is finished only when I’m sending it out for submission, and often not even then.

Good thinking. Nothing like a little mind trickery to get the words flowing again! :-)
